Dr. S M Ravisankar

Dr. S M Ravisankar is a highly experienced Medical Consultant who has been practising in Chennai since a time when it was called Madras (1978). He specialises in Diabetology and especially in Diabetic Foot Ulcer.

Dr. Ravisankar was trained by Prof. Nanjunda Rao (retired Professor of Surgery) and Dr. (Late) R Jayakumar, Plastic Surgeon, and moulded by Dr. Ravindra Padmanaban. At the outset, Dr. Ravisankar's clinical practice was a humble affair, operating from a car shed in Chepauk. His first surgical case at St. Isabel's Hospital was at midnight on November 17th 1978 - he performed an emergency appendectomy, ably "assisted" by Dr. Ravindra Padmanaban and Rev. Sister Nativity. Since then he has a lot to look back upon. Today, Dr. Ravisankar has to his credit a minimum of two thousand Diabetic Foot Ulcer cases to his credit; he has failed in a few, but satisfyingly, has achieved optimum levels of foot preservation in many.
